Drop over to my other blog, titled: Research & Teaching Critical Thinking. You will find my thoughts about new AI Chatbots and their effect on both student academic integrity and assessing student critical thinking assignments. [https://www.paulmcafee.com/experiential_learning_research]

For a taste of this issue that concerns me, I wrote the following short blog post, with the title "Students Take Care" but be sure to see the footnote below*.

Students Take Care

Undergraduate business degree students must prioritize taking care to maximize their academic performance and ensure successful completion of their degree program. Taking care involves making responsible decisions that prioritize academic integrity, honesty, and critical thinking. This essay will discuss the importance of these three elements of taking care in academic life and provide examples of how to demonstrate them.

Academic Integrity

Academic integrity is essential for undergraduate business degree students in order to maximize their academic performance and ensure successful completion of their degree program. Plagiarism is an example of an action that violates academic integrity. Plagiarism is the use of another person’s ideas or words without proper credit to the source. To avoid plagiarism, students should properly cite their sources and not copy the work of others. Examples of other actions that demonstrate academic integrity include double checking sources and references, thoroughly proofreading assignments, and not engaging in any behaviors that could be considered cheating or stealing.

Honesty

Honesty is also essential for undergraduate business degree students in order to maximize their academic performance and ensure successful completion of their degree program. Dishonesty can lead to serious consequences such as suspension or expulsion from college, a tarnished academic record, and lost opportunities for future career advancement. Examples of actions that demonstrate honesty include being truthful about grades and class standing, not fabricating any information on assignments or applications, and not using false information to gain an unfair advantage over other students.

Critical Thinking

Critical thinking is also essential for undergraduate business degree students in order to maximize their academic performance and ensure successful completion of their degree program. Critical thinking involves analyzing information, considering options, and making informed decisions. Using critical thinking is beneficial to academic performance because it allows students to make well-informed decisions which can result in better grades, increased understanding of course material, and improved problem-solving skills. Examples of how to use critical thinking include researching topics thoroughly before writing an essay, carefully examining data before drawing conclusions, and considering alternative points-of-view when evaluating an issue.

Conclusion

Taking care by demonstrating academic integrity, being honest at all times, and using critical thinking is essential for undergraduate business degree students in order to maximize their academic performance and ensure successful completion of their degree program. Undergraduate business degree students should prioritize taking care by committing to academic integrity, honesty, and critical thinking in order to maximize their success in college and beyond.
