active & Experiential Learning

Our Keuka College Operation Production Management students are going into production for the Project-Based Learning portion of their course. They create and run a business, applying what they are learning in their class and from their textbook.

Project-Based Learning

This is experiential or active learning in an authentic situation. The students must earn a profit which they later will use to support a local charitable organization of their choice.

Learning While Doing

Here, the students are packaging chicken floss and pork rinds, traditional Vietnamese snacks.

Their task is to run a business while applying operations management and project management skills. They must earn a total of at least $300 USD during the five weeks of their project. They will select a charity and will use the profit to purchase supplies for their local charity. The students usually support an orphanage or children's hospital.
