If you are following the evolution of generative AI tools since the public introduction of ChatGPT one year ago, this article will bring you up to date.
This fall semester, out of 89 capstone University at Buffalo School of Management, The State University of New York, on our Singapore campus, I had two students who were ahead of me with respect to using and understanding genAI tools. Next fall, I expect more students to know about, and to use, these tools. Between now and then, I will be modifying the assignments I give my students, and the associated assessments, to ensure that I am assessing what they know and how well they can apply what I teach.
In particular, for my capstone Strategic Management course sections, I will require the students to use the genAI tool of their course to conduct their weekly data analysis from the semester-long strategy simulation on which they work in teams.
